Colorful Design Picks

Some rainbow design finds for Monday:

  • Bead cocktail ring, another great D.I.Y. project from Dismount Creative.
  • Hair/style inspiration from an older Noa Noa advertisement {via Have Degree, Will Travel}.
  • Striking art idea from The House That Lars Built. Here are how to make the flowers and how to create the silhouette portrait.
  • Genius rainbow fruit skewers, part of a recipe for Double Rainbow pancakes.
  • Pink accordion cloche, $450.00, Hats by Behida Dolić {via Happiness Is…}.
  • Colorful embroidery by Maricor/Maricar {via Mimi + Meg}.
  • eeBoo has a wonderful series of notebooks inspired by Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland.
  • Alexa Chung looks great in Erdem’s SS2011 Margot dress (originally $3,360, now sold out). Larger picture here.
  • Asos has this v. Jil Sander midi length skirt for $62.76. The blue is already sold out because I waited too long to post (sigh), but keep an eye out for similar items.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Design Picks

Finally Wists is back up! That was scary. Clockwise from top left:

  • Isabella 8×10 print, $20.00, from Peggy Wolf Design {via Oh Joy!}. I love this.
  • Teacup lights by Greg Bonasera. Here are two tutorials, one for a teacup chandelier, the other for a teacup lamp, to help you make your own.
  • Dismount Creative has instructions for these business card holders. So chic!
  • Ridiculous strawberry nails {via Winkeland}. I’m positive this video is the tutorial used to create them.
  • Antique metal trays make very chi-chi magnetic boards {image via pinterest}.

PopBetty - Design Finds

Hope you had a great weekend! Here are some bright visual picks for Monday morning (from top left):

Row 1

  • Lost & Taken has a gallery of free hi-res texture templates, for use in commercial & personal projects {via How About Orange}. Gorgeous & generous.
  • I like this Palmograph Fortune Chart, $20 at AllPosters.com {via Old Sweet Song}. Regardless of how you feel about palmistry, it’s a conversation starter (and lovely to boot).

Row 2

  • A photo of Mia Wasikowska killing it in Alexander McQueen FW11, from a recent photoshoot for W magazine {photo by Jean-Baptiste Mondino}. The masked man is Michael Fassbender, aka my boyfriend.
  • Cream Puffs in Venice conquered the crepe cake, the Mt.Everest of Cakes. I have to buy at least 2 new kitchen tools to make this, but one day it will be mine.

Row 3

  • Another yummy thing to make for spring is strawberry butter {photo by Kitchen Sink Recipes}.
  • Jaw-dropping skirt by Karla Špetić, available on sale for $333.00 (*sigh*) {photo by Facehunter, and via Cat Party}.
  • Madden Girl Celiia flats with pompoms, $40 at Zappos (they also come in polka dots).

D.I.Y. Idea: Framed Collections

March 8, 2011 by Renee Claire

DIY Idea: Framed Collections

Left to right: framed chicken wire photo holder by Scandinavian Chic {via The Decorista}; framed cameras by Rabbit & Snails {via pinterest}.

Framing collections isn’t a fresh idea, but what I like about these examples are the casualness and tangibility of each. No matting, no glass–everything’s open for you to touch and play with. I also love the clever use chicken wire in the left-hand photo, and how it contributes to the romantic, brocante vibe.

Some party-friendly finds for the weekend. Left to right, starting from the top:

  • Crystal Head vodka via Honestly…WTF.
  • D.I.Y. Snooki mask, aka the best thing to come from Snooki’s A Shore Thing (the last photo is priceless). By Regretsy writer April Winchell.
  • Hot pink “schiap” lipstick from NARS, via heart charlie.
  • The best Dr. Seuss cupcakes I have ever seen, by Kitchen Doughdough. The cotton candy is genius.
  • Sweet D.I.Y. glitter flats by We Are Not Martha.
  • Aqua & magenta confetti garlands by Kristina Marie {via Creature Comforts}.
  • South African necklace, my own. Couldn’t find a similar one online, but there are tons of cute bib necklaces for sale right now (like this one on Fly’s Andrea, from Target).
